We’re Nige and Diane, accompanied by our two springer spaniels, Lexi and Smee. In 2024, we made a transformative decision: to sell our home, close our business and start a new life in our self-converted ex-ambulance. We embarked on a full-time van life journey. Our motivation? To seek peace, embrace challenges, and create the mental space to reflect and grow.
Beginning our journey in winter, we avoided the temptation to chase the sun. instead, we headed north to Scotland. Over the next four months, we’ve traversed over 3,200 miles, boarded 12 CalMac ferries and explored the diverse landscapes of Scotland—from the rugged peaks of Assynt to the serene shores of the Outer Hebrides. The aim was to test our and the van’s resilience. Although we were seasoned travellers, we still needed to make sure that everything was working for us; it is a different ‘ball game’ being full-time.
Our journey isn’t about escaping life’s realities; it’s about confronting them head-on. We’ve come to realise that life on the road doesn’t mean avoiding challenges. Instead, it’s about finding joy in simple moments and understanding that sometimes, the best experiences come when there’s no one else around.
Through our social media channels, we share the highs and lows of van life, offering a genuine glimpse into our adventures. Whether you’re a fellow traveller, a van life enthusiast, or someone seeking inspiration, we hope our story resonates with you.
